8 Tips to PCS to a Safe Home

PCS (or a military move, for our non-military friends) season is quickly approaching. We ourselves are preparing to move in less than 60 days. This will be our third military move and our first since being exposed to toxic mold in our housing. As we prepare ourselves for this upcoming venture we have compiled some tips to make your move in to a new home as safe as possible. While most of the tips apply to the military or military housing, it is true for off base housing and civilians as well. 1. Do not sign the lease without seeing the home first. I  understand  100% how complicated this statement is; we ourselves have done this because A. we didn't know any better and B. military housing communities are NOTORIOUS for doing this to families. They use scare tactics to force new residents in to contracts and honestly it is NOT okay. They may try and email a lease over "for your convenience" or have you sign before touring the home. It can be avoided, please do not sign ...

All The Best Non-Toxic Stocking Stuffers

Since being exposed to toxic mold we have become extremely picky about what enters our home and bodies. You could say we have PTSD about being re-infected and keeping a non-toxic home has been one way for me to cope. That being said I have rounded some gifts that are non-toxic and a low body burden all while still being AWESOME! Each image will link to its website* when clicked, super easy!

Fun Kitchenware
My kids are obsessed with straws but we go through a million a month if I buy plastic straws. This is a great way to keep BPA's out while still enjoying the convenience of sipping from a straw. The reusable bags make sandwiches a little cooler and the water bottle is BPA free.

Kissable Smile
These beauties are organic and non-toxic. Definitely a win, especially when my four year old lays it on thick. We all love this natural toothpaste as well, even the kiddos.

Essential Oils
I 100% believe in education prior to essential oil use, we have deeply educated ourselves and know the proper ways to use them. My husband used peppermint and lavender religiously when we lived in our toxic home, it was the only thing to lessen his headaches. He always appreciates a fresh bottle to have on hand for any headaches that may arise. Diffusing is another way to freshen the air without spraying toxic chemicals in it.

Snacks
Snacks are one of my favorite things to put in stockings. They get eaten and I never feel like they are going to waste (unlike the umpteenth bottle of slime in my carpet or the 900th Shopkin lost to the woods). These lollipops are awesome and we get them every time we go to Sprouts, my kids LOVE them.

Gift Cards/Memberships
Small but mighty in my opinion are memberships and gift cards. People get what they want and you gave an awesome gift. Top of my list is an Amazon Prime membership, but Netflix, local zoos & museums, and other local stores like Target and Walmart. Date night gift cards are also awesome, check out movie theaters, restaurants, or adventure activities like escape rooms.

Bath Care
The hair brush battle is never ending around here. An extra brush is always nice for the kiddos plus they love bath bombs. I hate taking baths, but that is a story for another day.
